Creotech Instruments, Poland’s largest manufacturer of satellites, satellite systems and components, listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, has signed a contract with the European Space Agency (ESA) to carry out the Telescope Array Functional Prototype project, the aim of which is to develop and deliver a prototype of an autonomous, modular observation station for the detection and tracking of Near-Earth Objects (Near Earth Object – NEO). The contract is worth EUR 1.6 million and will take 13 months to complete.

"This project represents the next step in the development of our product range in the field of space observation. Through our collaboration with ESA, we are creating solutions that will not only enhance the security of our planet, but also open up new business opportunities – ranging from the sale of observation stations to the commercialisation of observational data. The Telescope Array Functional Prototype also marks an important stage in building Creotech Instruments’ expertise in the field of early-warning systems and the monitoring of near-Earth objects. The project will enable us to develop technologies that will find application in both scientific missions and commercial projects related to space safety. It is also further proof that technologies developed in Poland are being utilised in world-class international space projects."

The entire project involves the development of a functional prototype of a station that will integrate telescopes, sCMOS cameras, a positioning system with filters, as well as control, communication and power supply modules. This will result in a complete, autonomous module ready for operation within a network of observatories. The project will result in a technology demonstrator at TRL 6, enabling further scaling and commercialisation of the solution.

The Telescope Array system will be capable of being used both to monitor potential near-Earth object threats and for commercial observations in B2G and B2B models.

The project will also enable Creotech to expand its product range with a new type of astronomical camera based on a state-of-the-art sensor designed for observing near-Earth objects. This will be another solution - following on from the CreoSky 6000 camera - that meets the growing need for the development of early-warning systems against threats from outer space.

The implementation of the project supports the objectives of the Polish Space Strategy 2030, strengthening national capabilities in the field of space security and defence.

The total value of the project is EUR 1,600,000, of which Creotech Instruments’ share amounts to approximately EUR 503,000. As part of the budget allocation, the Company will receive funding of approximately EUR 370,000 for the development of the camera, which will be a key component of the observatory.

Creotech Instruments will carry out the project in collaboration with the Austrian company ASA Astrosysteme GmbH, 6Roads Sp. z o.o. and Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań.

Once the ongoing demerger of Creotech Instruments S.A. has been completed, the project will be carried out by Creotech Quantum S.A.
