Advanced Cameras with sCMOS

Creotech Instruments is a designer and manufacturer of advanced cameras with sCMOS and CCD sensors enabling fast on-camera pre-processing of data. We specialize in FPGA SoC based camera electronics design and integration with sensors. Modern sCMOS image sensors offer extremely low noise, rapid frame rates, wide dynamic range, high quantum efficiency, high resolution and a large field of view.

Our experience in camera design follows from a wide variety of completed R&D projects. In particular, we have a background in designing cameras for advanced astronomical, Near Earth Observation (NEO) and Space Situation Tracking (SST) purposes, as well as for medical and military applications. As part of our R&D projects, we teamed up with such partners as: the Space Research Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN), University of Warsaw, the National Center for Nuclear Research (NCBJ) and partners from the national defense sector.

Our current flagship camera project involves the design, prototyping and validation of an advanced sCMOS camera for astronomical applications. In parallel, we are upgrading our infrastructure for camera integration and testing. The new camera designed by CTI will offer the following advantages over existing commercial solutions:

  • advanced built-in operating system – stand-alone Linux allowing for preliminary post-processing of data on the camera’s FPGA system(frame stacking, pre-defined data processing algorithms),
  • option to customize the camera through built-in user-accessible programmable resources,
  • dedicated durable shutter with Time Stamping function, tailored to SST applications.

Our cameras development concept includes a gigabit Ethernet interface and communication through ASCOM or/and user-defined scripts using a professionally documented SDK library.
The significant know-how accumulated at CTI is a key factor underpinning our successful delivery of projects.
