Creotech's Role: Design of the HyperSat satellite platform for the mission demonstrator
Scope: autonomous maneuvers, docking, and, in the future, refueling satellites in orbit
First mission: RAVEN DEMO I, scheduled for 2029
The growing number of satellites in orbit creates an increasing need for in-orbit servicing, including relocation, inspection, maintenance, and, ultimately, safe disposal. RAVEN is a project designed to develop the necessary technologies for these tasks and demonstrate that such operations can be conducted autonomously.
Creotech Instruments is responsible for designing the satellite platform for the mission demonstrator. The project is based on our proprietary HyperSat platform, which will serve as the technological foundation for an In-Space Transportation Vehicle (ISTV). During Phase B1, we are developing the system architecture and the preliminary platform design, updating technical requirements, formulating the demonstrator concept, verifying the compatibility of key subsystems, and assessing the technology readiness levels (TRL/IRL) required for the mission.
The first demonstration mission, RAVEN DEMO I, scheduled for 2029, will put orbital maneuvering, phasing maneuvers, and controlled deorbiting to the test. It will also showcase the system's capabilities regarding safety, inspection, and satellite reconnaissance. This represents a step toward establishing an independent European infrastructure for in-orbit servicing.
