Waldemar Maj, PhD

Currently, he is a co-founder, investor, and CEO of:

• Algorytmik Group, which develops AI/ML algorithms for stock trading and invests on the NYSE and NASDAQ exchanges,
• Neutrino Geology S.A., where he is pioneering an innovative method for natural resource exploration using geo-neutrino detectors,
• Metropolitan Capital Solutions Group, specializing in strategic advisory, restructuring, and mergers and acquisitions for enterprises and private equity funds in Central and Eastern Europe.

At the same time, he serves as the CEO of Grupa Nowy Kapitał Ziemski, where he has also been an investor since 2008.

From 2007 to 2008, he held the position of Vice President of the Management Board for Finance at PKN Orlen S.A., overseeing the financial division and investor relations. Between 2005 and 2007, he served as Vice President of the Management Board at Bank BGŻ S.A.

He gained professional experience at DZ Bank S.A., McKinsey & Company, the International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group) in Washington, and the Union Bank of Switzerland in Zurich.

From 1991 to 1994, he served as an advisor to the Minister at the Ministry of Finance.

He graduated from the Faculty of Technical Physics and Applied Mathematics at the Warsaw University of Technology in 1980. In 1989, he earned a Ph.D. in Physics from the Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN). From 1994 to 1996, he obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a specialization in finance from Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration in Boston. Between 1981 and 1991, he worked as an assistant and later as an assistant professor at the Institute of Physics PAN. During this time, he undertook a postdoctoral fellowship at the Kamerlingh Onnes Laboratory in Leiden, the Netherlands.

Since 1993, he has served as a supervisory board member in numerous companies in Poland and Luxembourg, including GPW S.A., Ciech S.A., PZU S.A., Bank BGŻ S.A., TFI Origin S.A., TMS Brokers S.A., Stock Spirits, and Ergis. He passed the qualifying exam for supervisory board candidates conducted by the Ministry of State Treasury. He currently serves as a supervisory board member of Vigo Photonics S.A., Creotech Instruments S.A., and as the chairman of the supervisory board of Hycom S.A.
