Company

Creotech Instruments S.A. is a leading Polish provider of advanced space technologies, specialized electronics and hardware with global applications in such areas as quantum computers, quantum cryptography, quantum physics and high energy physics laboratories.

In 2022, Creotech Instruments debuted on the Warsaw Stock Exchange as the first Polish space tech company.

The Company’s five primary business segments are:

  • NewSpace – dedicated to developing a satellite platform and its components;
  • Earth Observation – dedicated to developing Earth Observation systems and UAV technology (ang. Unmanned Aerial Vehicle);
  • Science – dedicated to developing specialized electronics and components for quantum computers and time synchronization systems;
  • Production – dedicated to the manufacture of electronics;
  • ESA Projects – dedicated chiefly to projects carried in partnership with or/and commissioned by the European Space Agency (ESA).

The Company’s next goal is to finalize HyperSat, a program seeking to deliver a satellite platform for microsatellite space missions and microsatellite constellations. HyperSat will be competitively priced and offer superior component quality and reliability. An extension of the program will be the launch of EagleEye, a proprietary observation microsatellite, slated for late 2023 or early 2024.

Creotech Instruments S.A.’s other efforts include:

  • development and application of the White Rabbit technology to time synchronization systems;
  • development and application of the Sinara standard to quantum computers (in collaboration with, among others, the Oxford University, Berkley University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology);
  • development and application of products under the CreoScan brand in drone operation support systems;
  • the SAMPLE project involving development of aviation obstacle monitoring systems (in partnership with Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PANSA, PAŻP);
  • the CreoDIAS project involving the development of Europe’s largest European satellite data repository (commissioned by ESA).

Operating strategy

Creotech Instruments’ operating strategy focuses on building a leading position in Central Europe as a provider of innovative and reliable solutions for the space market and intermediate sectors. The Company aspires to consistently expand its competitive advantages by offering top-quality and highly innovative products and technologies.

The Company intends to launch its top-tier satellite system, i.e. a proprietary satellite constellation solution with a ground mission control and data processing system based predominantly on subsystems developed in-house. This solution will be based on the universal modular HyperSat platform whose main competitive edge lies in its full flexibility in adapting to the target payload, e.g. satellites’ internal optical or radar instruments.

In addition to developing space sector products, Creotech Instruments will also pursue the growth of other operating segments.

Market environment

Space market

According to the “2019 State of the Satellite Industry” report issued by the Satellite Industry Association, in 2019 the total value of products delivered to the broad space market exceeded USD 360 billion, with the satellite industry accounting for over USD 277 billion of that total (the remaining segments include manned flights and deep space exploration scientific programs).

According to the said report, the satellite manufacturing segment is the fastest-growing segment of the space market. Having reached USD 19.5 billion in value in 2018, this market expanded by 26% year-on-year relative to 2017.

The utility of satellites (understood to mean the range of tasks that a given satellite can perform) grows with their mass, with this progression being the highest in the microsatellite category (10-150 kg).

According to the 6th edition of Euroconsult’s “Prospects for the Small Satellite Market” report (2020), the small satellite market (comprising units under 500 kg) has recently experienced very rapid growth. In 2010–2019, 1,810 satellites were launched into space, translating to an average of 181 satellites per year. This number is projected to increase more than five-fold to 1,011 satellites annually in 2020–2029 (10,110 satellites over the entire decade).
